Description

Kerry Cottage is a mid-18th century cottage located in Newton Tony. It is constructed of painted flint with brick dressings and has a thatched roof. Originally a two-bay structure, it was extended in the later 18th century by a third bay that now incorporates the original gable entrance and a 20th-century front door with a thatched canopy. The ground floor windows are PVC with gauged brick arches. There are two flush-paned dormers in the roof, which is hipped to the right. A brick with a moulded cornice displays the date 1741, situated between the first and second bays. A large 20th-century brick stack is located on the left gable, and an axial stack is against the original entrance, positioned on the gable of the living room.

Inside, a brick stack features a chamfered timber lintel with run-out stops. The spine beam has been renewed, and a partition to an inner room has been removed. A 20th-century kitchen extension is located at the rear of the building.
