Description
The Clock Tower Gateway is a late 18th-century structure located in Stourton with Gasper. It is constructed of dressed limestone and features a pair of two-storey round-fronted towers that flank a pointed archway topped with a battlemented parapet. Each tower has two recessed chamfered pointed leaded windows with hoodmoulds on the ground floor, oculi on the first floor, and battlemented parapets. The rear of each tower has a pointed ribbed doorway with a keystone and imposts. The west tower displays a gilded clock face on the first floor, while the east tower has an oculus. The sides facing the archway include loopholes, and there are double cast-iron gates. This gateway is likely a rebuild from 1799 to 1800 of a similar gatehouse that previously stood on the south side of the Stable Yard.
