Description

This is an 18th-century terrace of three short buildings located in Westbury, originally part of the Market Place. The buildings are two storeys high with attics. They have old tile roofs.

No. 1 has brick facing on a stone footing, with a projecting plinth. It features raised stone surrounds with beaded inner edges to the late-glazed sash windows. A hipped dormer is centrally located on the roof, and there are three square windows on the first floor. The ground floor has two windows and a central door. The door is six-panelled with glazed upper panels, set within a stone surround and topped by cut stone brackets supporting a moulded flat hood.

No. 2 has painted brickwork and stone surrounds to the glazing bar sash windows, with a moulded eaves cornice. There are two gabled dormers containing sash windows. The first floor has three windows, and the ground floor has two windows and a central door. The door is nine-panelled with the top three panels glazed. It is complemented by stone brackets, scroll brackets, a small cornice, and a pediment, along with a good contemporary door knocker.

No. 3 shares a similar design with No. 2, but it is longer and has more widely spaced windows. Glazing bar sash windows are present except for the ground floor window to the left. The three houses are set back from the Churchyard, fronted by gardens with hedges, a dwarf wall and gate piers.

The surrounding area, Westbury Common, includes numerous dated buildings spanning from the late 18th to the mid-19th century and is considered picturesque and of sociological interest.
