Description
Manor Farmhouse is a C17 farmhouse, with early 19th century and later additions, situated at right angles to the road. It is now a house. The building is timber framed and originally faced with colourwashed and rendered brick. It has a slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a cellar and attics, and comprises six bays. A through hall is located in the third bay, with a large main stack backing on to the passage. A mid-19th century rear wing extends to the right, and a later 19th century build forms a re-entrant angle, now used as a dining room. The original structure was timber framed with wattle and daub infilling, built in two phases; the right half is wider and contains the staircase, likely originally gabled at the road end. A half-glazed C19 door is set within an open trellis porch with a swept lead roof. The windows are stone-mullioned, originally 2-light, but now contain mid-20th century metal casements. The roof is hipped, with a central 3-flue stack and additional stacks to the gables. Inside, a late C17 staircase is located in the stairwell, featuring a plastered coved cornice and a central oval ceiling moulding. Panelled doors and internal boxed shutters are also present. The roof structure consists of trussed collar rafters supporting double purlins.
