Description
This is a cottage dating from the 17th to 18th century, constructed with a timber frame and colourwashed infill on a stone sill. It features a quarter hipped thatched roof with slightly raised dormers and is one storey high with an attic. The building has a three-bay plan and is oriented with its end facing the street. There are central gable stacks at the ends, and it may have originally had a lobby entry. A 19th-century rear wing is attached on the left side. The elevation displays two-panel high framing, with some parts replaced by later, more slender framing when the height was increased by one additional panel. The cottage has 20th-century timber casement windows. An adjoining cottage, known as No 2, is from the early 20th century and serves as a rear wing at the street end, but it is not considered of special interest.
