Description

Little Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 17th century, with early 19th-century additions. It features English bond brickwork and a tiled roof with brick stacks. The structure has a three-bay baffle-entry design, with a matching bay added to the north around 1700 and a rear wing constructed in 1806. The front is two stories high with five windows. The door, located in a 19th-century porch in the second bay from the left, has a datestone marked T.I./1688 above the lintel. To the right of the door is a three-light wooden casement, while to the left are three three-light wooden casements. There is a three-brick plat band at the first floor level, with oval windows above the door and one casement to the right, and three three-light casements to the left. The right side of the building features a two-light casement on the ground and attic floors, along with a blocked segmental-headed window on the first floor. The rear right includes a two-story wing with "1806" inscribed in vitrified headers in the gable and a segmental-headed three-light wooden casement on both the ground and first floors. There is also an early 19th-century single-storey extension that now serves as garages and an outshut, featuring 20th-century windows and a glazed door. The interior was not accessible during the survey in August 1984, but it was recorded by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments. The 17th-century newel stairs have vase-turned balusters with rich base mouldings and pendant finials on the upper newel, which are reused from an unknown house. The ceilings have ogee-stopped chamfered beams, and there are fireplaces with cambered timber lintels. The farmhouse is likely built by Thomas Jervoise, who lived from 1667 to 1743, in 1688.
