Description

The War Memorial in Princess Gardens is a First World War memorial built in 1920 by R Blomfield. It is made of Portland stone with bronze details. The memorial features three steps leading up to a deep plinth, from which a three-tiered monument rises on a tiered base, square in shape. Each face of the monument has inscription panels and wreaths. The upper two tiers are coped, with the second tier displaying inverted torches on each face. The memorial is topped with an urn.
