Description

This pair of gate piers marks the entrance to the drive of Upton Manor and likely dates from the early to mid 19th century. They are constructed from painted stone ashlar and feature square rusticated piers with moulded bases and caps. The stones have incised decoration, and each pier is topped with a large urn. The piers are equipped with large iron hinges for double gates, and the stone gate-rebates are intricately carved with scrolls at the top.
