Description
Nos. 111-115A and 115B on Winner Street in Paignton are three shops with accommodation above, dating from around 1830, although they now function as two shops. The building has a stuccoed exterior and a slate roof that is gabled at both ends, with a rendered stack featuring a platband at the right end.
The structure is three storeys high and has a three-window front with a platband at the first-floor level. The ground floor on the left features an early 20th-century shopfront that includes a recessed half-glazed door with a low panel and a deep overlight to the left, alongside a plate-glass shop window to the right. No. 113 was previously two shops, marked by a right end pilaster with a sunk panel. There are paired canted doors towards the centre, with the right-hand door converted into a window, and modern plate-glass shop windows. The first floor has three 4 over 4-pane sash windows, while the second floor features three 2-light casements with glazing bars.
The interior has not been inspected but may still hold interesting features. Historically, Winner Street served as the main medieval thoroughfare in Paignton and is named after the bishops' vineyard.
