Description

A terrace of five cottages, likely dating from the early 19th century, is located in Higher Brixham, at the junction of Drew Street, Horsepool Street, and Milton Street. The cottages have solid roughcast walls and hipped slated roofs. Four chimneys rise from the ridge, three of red brick and one rendered. A further two rendered chimneys are located on the rear wing of number 1, which faces Horsepool Street. The terrace is a single range, one room wide and probably only one room deep, facing a small triangle of ground. The cottages are three storeys high, originally with seven windows across the front. Half-glazed doors provide access. The windows have a varied selection of wood and metal casements, including two 20th-century bow windows. The rear wing of number 1 has a box-framed sash window on the ground floor. The second storey has plain box-framed sashes, and the third storey features two wood casements, each with two lights and eight panes per light. Six over six panes with margin-panes are present in some windows.
