Description
A terrace of four houses located on Milton Street in Higher Brixham. The houses were built in the mid-19th century. They have solid rendered walls, with some exposed stone rubble visible on the right end wall. The roofs are slate, with a hipped roof to the left. Four rendered chimneys are present on the ridge, with round tops; the chimney on the right includes some exposed red brick. The houses are three storeys high, and each is one window wide, with a doorway located to the left or right of the window. The doorways are arranged to form mirrored pairs, with central doorways at numbers 9 and 11, and doorways at the ends at numbers 13 and 15. The doors have been altered in the late 20th century. Windows at numbers 9 to 13 are 6-paned sash windows with plastic frames and glazing bars. Window at number 15 also has 6-paned sashes but with plastic frames and glazing bars. The doorways have raised, shaped surrounds above the door openings. Broad sill bands run across the upper storeys. A deep, flat eaves cornice is present. The buildings are included on the list for their contribution to the group value of the area.
