Description

No. 1 Paradise Place is a former fisherman's store that has been converted into a shop store. It likely dates from the early to mid-19th century and incorporates some earlier materials. The building features solid, rendered walls, with the rear wall constructed of stone rubble. The roof has a small section that is hipped and slated facing Pump Street, while the remainder is covered with corrugated asbestos and corrugated iron.

This long, rectangular building has its gable end facing Pump Street and is two storeys high. The ground floor includes a four-panelled door with an ornate iron ring-handle, where the bottom two panels are flush. To the left of this door is a plank door, and to the right, there is a louvred window. The upper storey has two louvred windows.

The gable wall facing Pump Street features a wide opening on the ground floor that is largely blocked, with a heavy wooden lintel above it. At the right-hand end of this wall is an old plank door that opens in two sections, with the upper and lower halves operating separately. The upper storey has a three-light window with plain mullions to the left and a loading door to the right, which also opens in two halves, with a two-panelled section above and a plank section below. The rounded projection on the right side has a plank door on the ground floor and a boarded window above.
