Description

The group of three chest tombs is located in the churchyard, six meters south-west of the west door of the tower of the Church of St. Mary in Lydiard Park. The eastern tomb, dating from the early 19th century, is made of limestone and features a moulded table with a reeded fascia, recessed decorated corner balusters, and a moulded base. It has an inscription with incised decorative borders commemorating William Beames, who died in 1808, and Elizabeth Beames, who died in 1850.

The central tomb is also made of limestone and has an inset hipped table, recessed corner balusters, and a moulded base. The inscription in a panel notes Elizabeth Dore, who died in 1829, and Peter Dore, who died in 1819.

The western tomb, again made of limestone, includes a moulded table with a reeded fascia and recessed decorated corner balusters. Its inscriptions are in round panels surrounded by lightly incised foliage, commemorating Sarah Dore, who died in 1803, William Dore, who died in 1813, and their children: Ann, who died in 1831, John, who died in 1844, Mary, who died in 1834, and Sarah, who died in 1858.
