Description
Edmonds Cottage is an early 18th century, one and a half storey thatched cottage located on the east side of Bishopstone High Street. The building is constructed from coursed and dressed chalk rubble sitting on a mixed rubble plinth. The roof is hipped to the left, and there is a pebbledashed chimney positioned to the right of the center.
The right-hand bay is modern, featuring an eyebrow dormer and thatch, but it is finished with reconstituted stone. The cottage has four dormers that are cut into the thatch, with 1, 2, and 3 light casements. On the ground floor, there are four similar windows with wooden lintels; three of these windows include 19th century opening slides and catches. To the left, there is a cellar window with a 2 light opening that has a wooden ovolo section mullion.
A small brick and tile link connects the cottage to Littlecot, which has a 2 light casement window with a 19th century slide and catch. The south gable features a 2 light garret window with a leaded casement.
