Description
The Whitehouse is a possibly 18th-century, one and a half storey thatched cottage located on the north side of Wanborough Church Road in Upper Wanborough. The gable end facing the road is quarter hipped and features two pheasants. On the first floor, there is a two-light casement window, while the ground floor has two windows, one with two lights and the other with three lights. A brick and stone chimney is situated at the north end of the cottage. The east front includes two eyebrow dormers, one of which has a three-light casement window with ovolo wooden mullions. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door, with a glazing bar sash window to the right. There is also a four-light casement window to the north-west, featuring ovolo section wooden mullions. Inside, the cottage retains a well-preserved inglenook fireplace with a salt cupboard and a blocked bread oven, along with a stop-chamfered main beam.
