Description
Hodson House and the stable range to the west are 17th century buildings that have been altered and extended. The house is two storeys high with an attic and constructed from rubble, topped with a stone slate roof. An early to mid-19th century addition features a lower two-bay wing with a slate roof. The south front displays two ranges of tripartite glazing bar sash windows, with the first-floor window on the right being blind but painted over, and a door that has been blocked. The early to mid-19th century extension includes a glazing bar sash window. The gable-lit attic is half hipped to the west and retains three light ovolo mullions on the east side. Inside, the southwest rooms feature a carved stop chamfer on the beam, similar to that found in the Lower Farmhouse in Hannington. Attached to the west and forming an 'L' shape is a mid-19th century single-storey stable range, which has a thatched roof and is constructed from both brick and stone, with various openings. One of the beams in this stable is reset and dated W M 1686.
