Description

The Old Rectory is a house that was originally built as a rectory in the early 19th century, with later alterations. It features a rubble and rendered exterior, with some exposed rubble at the rear, stone dressings, and quoins. The slate roof is complemented by brick stacks. The building has three storeys and three windows, all of which are boxed 16-pane sashes. The central entrance includes a panelled and glazed door flanked by engaged Doric columns, topped with a cornice. There is a plinth, parapet, and coping that ramps up to the stack on the left side.

On the left, a lower wing has a tall canted bay with a 24-pane sash window at the front and 6-pane sashes on each side, separated by pilasters. The right side of the building features three storeys and two varied windows, including a sash in a stone surround at the ground and first floors on the left and another on the second floor to the right. There are also two 20th-century doors. The rear of the building has two and a half storeys, with a double hipped roof on the right and a pitched roof above the first floor. The left side has a two-storey block with a dormer gable that showcases exposed timbering and a mix of window styles, including varied casements and boxed sashes on the second floor. The right lower wing includes a 20th-century window with a relieving arch and an external weathered stack.
