Description

The Cox monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, about one metre west of the tower of the Church of St. Oswald. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and oval inscription panels on all sides, with double panels on the north and south. These panels are surrounded by twined ribbons, roses, and urns in the spandrels, and it has a moulded plinth. The monument commemorates John Cox, who died in 1829, along with other family members.
