Description
Londonderry Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, dated 1672, constructed of rubble with a pebbledash front. It features a 20th-century red-tile roof and end gables with bargeboards, as well as tall square ashlar stacks with moulded caps. The building is two storeys high with a gable-lit attic and has six windows, which are glazing bar sashes set in bolection architraves with moulded cills and cornices above. Notably, there is a decorative oblong panel above the third window from the right, inscribed with "IRA 1672," which refers to Richard Jones. The door opening in the third bay from the right has a bolection architrave and is accessed through a later wooden porch.
At the rear, there is a gabled pantiled wing with an ashlar stack set diagonally, which continues to the west as a single-storey unit. The rear also features several 2-light wooden casements under dripmoulds, a gabled stair turret, and a gabled dormer. Inside, the south ground floor room retains original panelling with an enriched frieze that includes the initials "IRA," accessed through a strapwork doorcase. The interior also boasts a good dog-leg staircase with splat balusters and pillar-newels, along with pendants below.
