Description
Avonside House is a villa built around 1835, located on the east side of Keynsham Road in Bitton. It is connected to the Avon and Gloucester Tramway, which was opened in 1835 to transport coal from Siston and Oldland to the Avon. The building has a square plan and stands two storeys high, with a rendered exterior. It features three sets of two windows, which are glazing bar sashes, and a band above the ground floor. The flat eaves of the hipped slate roof are supported by paired wooden brackets, and there are two large chimneys. The central arched doorway has a six-panel door, and there is a one-bay extension to the left. The rear elevation is similar to the front, with the addition of a circular fanlight with a teardrop pattern and a lean-to structure on the right.
