Description
The stable block, located 20 metres northwest of Sisters' House, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble with freestone and brick dressings, topped with a double Roman tile roof. The building consists of two ranges set at right angles to each other. The principal range is two storeys high with five windows and features a central door framed by a round-headed rusticated surround. The windows also have similar surrounds with cast iron glazing bars. At each end of this range, there is a large elliptical arch; the arch on the right is open, while the one on the left contains a lower opening that is now blocked. The first floor has dressed pitching eyes with keystones, and there is a small brick-dressed eye to the right of the open arch. The roof is hipped. The plain left range has one small and one large gabled extension. At the rear, only the wall remains of the third side of the courtyard.
