Description

Green Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse, with 18th-century rear wings, and 19th and 20th-century alterations and additions. It is constructed of coursed rubble, with roughcast to the front, and has a double Roman tiled roof with some pantiles at the rear. Gable stacks feature diagonal chimneys. The building follows a U-plan, originally with a through passage. It has two storeys and two gables forming an attic storey, presenting a symmetrical front with five windows. Most windows are metal-framed casements, except for two 19th-century 12-pane sashes located in exposed boxes within the gables. A central 6-panelled door has a transom light and a timber lintel. The rear has two gables repeated, with a first-floor gabled former bakehouse/brewhouse to the west, and a two-storey former dairy to the east. A 20th-century lean-to sits between irregular windows. The west side of the building features two gables and irregularly placed windows. Internally, a former hall-kitchen to the west includes a winder stair. All beams are boxed, and there is a wooden ovolo-moulded cornice in the parlour to the east.
