Description

The Manor House is a farmhouse, now used as a restaurant and private residence, with a core dating to the 16th century. Further development occurred in 1603, with a south block added in 1680. Later alterations and additions have also been made. The construction is of coursed rubble with stone dressings, and it is roofed with double Roman tiles, with pantiles to the rear, and features ball finials to the gables, except for two on the east side of the front. The building is in an L-shape.

It is two storeys and an attic in height, with three irregular gables facing the front. There are three windows to the front, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor. C19 twelve-pane sash windows are set in exposed boxes with drip moulds to the left-hand gable. The other windows are two and three-light casements under timber lintels. An attic window to the left gable also has a drip mould. The right-hand gable has a plank door with strap hinges in a plain wooden frame, and a large external stack above. A two-storey porch is located between two gables on the left, featuring a three-light casement with a cornice on the first floor, an opening with a timber lintel, and a small square window on the ground floor; a two-panelled door in a heavy frame, with scroll and ovolo moulding and strap hinges. The east side displays a four-light casement at ground floor, a three-light casement at first floor, and a two-light casement in the attic, all with timber lintels. A buttress is positioned to the left, and a garderobe tower to the right. The west side has two gables: the right gable has an oval bull's eye window in a plain surround at ground floor, a sundial at the upper level and a gable stack. The left gable has two ground floor and two first floor C19 twelve-pane sashes with timber lintel, drip mould and bearing arch to all except the first floor right, which is a three-light casement with drip mould. The rear features two gables; both have gable stacks and random one and two-light casements. A C20 door is located centrally, with single-storey additions to the left and centre, both with double Roman tiled pitched roofs.

The interior includes a through passage and a rear stair turret containing a dog-leg staircase. The staircase has an ovolo-moulded newel post, string and handrail, alongside moulded and stopped beams and door frames.
