Description
Northwoods House is a Grade II listed building located on Old Gloucester Road in Frampton Cotterell. It was built between 1833 and 1835 as the end pavilion of an asylum for Dr. Henry Hawes Fox, designed by the Bristol architect Charles Underwood. The house is constructed of ashlar and features two storeys with three sash windows. There are 20th-century tall doors located off-centre to the right. The building has a plinth and a band, with the centre bay slightly projecting forward. The first floor features four pilasters flanking a window that has a frame and pediment, which supports a cornice and a panelled parapet. The flanking windows are set in recessed panels below the cornice. The rear elevation is identical to the front, but it now has a 20th-century glazed entry on the right (south).
