Description
The barn and stables, located 5 yards to the east of Upper Chalkley Farmhouse, date from the early 19th century. The barn is constructed of rubble with a hipped Cotswold stone slate roof and features five bays supported by kingpost trusses with struts. It has opposed square-headed entries. A covered way connects the east end of the barn to the stables, which are positioned at a right angle to the barn. The stables are also made of rubble and have a roof covered with double Roman tiles, with the lowest four courses made of Cotswold stone slates. The stables include two square-headed openings, and to the right, there is a large chamfered freestone doocase with a steeply pointed four-centred head.
