Description
Numbers 74 and 74A comprise a house and cottage situated on the north side of High Street in Marshfield. Number 74, Cotswold House, dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has a slate mansard roof with coped, raised verges. The house is two storeys with attics, arranged over three bays. It features marginal glazing bar sash windows set in plain stone surrounds, with a plain band running above the ground floor. The front door is panelled and sits within a plain doorcase, topped by a broken pediment supported by brackets. Cotswold Cottage, Number 74A, is located to the rear, on Touching End Lane, and dates from the 17th century. It is built of rubble with a double Roman tiled roof. It is two storeys high and has a single three-light casement window with ovolo-moulded mullions and surrounds. A 20th-century casement window with an ovolo-moulded surround is visible on the first floor, and there is a 20th-century door on the ground floor.
