Description

Shadyside is a detached house located on the High Street in Marshfield. The house largely dates from the mid to late 18th century, although it incorporates fabric from an earlier 17th-century house. It is constructed of ashlar, with a double Roman tiled and Cotswold stone slate mansard roof featuring coped raised verges. The roof also includes a moulded coped parapet and a concave eaves cornice. The house is two storeys and has attics, with hipped dormers visible. The front has three bays, with 16-pane glazing bar sash windows on the ground floor, a plain band above, and three semi-circular headed glazing bar sash windows on the first floor. The outer first-floor windows are flanked by tall, square-headed lights. A central six-panel door is sheltered by a flat stone hood supported on brackets. A two-storey rear wing extends from the main body of the house.
