Description

The direction sign at the junction of Cherry Garden Road dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is considered the best of the local direction signs. It is made of painted ashlar blocks set on a curving dwarf wall. The sign features a wedge-shaped taller central block, with the inscription "To Bath" and a pointing hand on either side. The long side blocks have chamfered tops, with the left block inscribed "To Bristol through Hanham" and a pointing hand, which now corresponds to the A431. The right block is inscribed "To Oldland, Siston, Mangotsfield and French" with a pointing hand, now associated with the B4427 (A4175).
