Description

The Manor is a house dating from the 17th century, largely refaced around 1700. It is constructed of coursed rubble, partially rendered, with a roof of Cotswold stone slate, featuring coped verges and saddle stones. The house has two storeys, cellars, and attics, and originally had five windows on the ground floor and three on the first. The windows are 8-pane glazing bar sashes, set within bolection moulded surrounds, beneath a flat entablature, cornice, and moulded cills. A single sash window with a plain surround is located to the left. The central entrance features an 8-panel door under a fine shell hood, carved with vines and a shell, supported by consoles. A rear wing from the 17th century has casement windows with chamfered mullions and surrounds. Internally, the left-hand ground floor room contains bolection moulded panelling and a fireplace. A dog-leg staircase features a moulded closed string and carved flat balusters. This is a good local example of provincial Baroque architecture.
