Description

Rockwood House is a small country house, dating to the early 19th century. Originally an inn, it is now situated on Gravel Hill Road in Yate. The house is constructed of ashlar with a hipped slate roof concealed behind a coped parapet, finished with a modillioned cornice. It is two storeys high, arranged as a three-bay central block flanked by three-bay segmental bow projections on either side. A plain band runs above the ground floor. The windows are glazing bar sash windows. The south-facing entrance front has five bays, the central bay slightly projecting, and features a single-storey Doric porch set in antis. A 20th-century door is set within the porch, above a fanlight.
