Description

Holly House is an early to mid-18th century building that was altered in the 19th century. The exterior is rendered to resemble ashlar stone. The main block features a double Roman tile roof with coped verges and an ashlar chimney stack. To the left, there is an extension with a shallow pitched roof, which is not visible behind a parapet. The house has two stories and two windows on both the main block and the extension. The ground floor includes a small single-storey bay with a sash window that has diamond lattice glazing bars, while the first floor has similar sash windows. The extension features two shallow segmental bays with matching windows. A 19th-century panelled door with a rectangular light above is framed by a plain painted stone surround. The parapet has a plain band course above the bays.

On the side elevation, there are 2- and 3-light casement windows at the ground floor, each with chamfered stone surrounds and mullions. The panelled door has a moulded architrave. At the rear, there are ovolo-moulded windows.

Inside, there is a fireplace with a moulded depressed arch, although it is not in its original position. The single-storey wing at the rear features 2-light oak mullion windows and a plank and batten door. At the top of the modern stairs, there are two plank doors with scratch moulded edges and iron hinges. The architrave has double-ovolo moulding with run-out stops and a niche, while there is a baluster screen above for ventilation. The interior also includes stop-chamfered beams with stepped stops.
