Description

The Cuthbert chest tomb, located in the churchyard about 2 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary, is an 18th-century structure made of limestone. It features a flat top with a moulded edge and plain quarter balusters. The tomb has inscription panels on all sides, with double panels on the south side adorned with twined ribbons, trumpets, fruit, and flowers. It commemorates Rachel Cuthbert, who died in 1767, along with other family members.
