Description

Churchill House is a house that has been converted into a residence and two flats. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of rubble, rendered surfaces, and brick, with a slate roof on the west side and a pantiled roof on the east. It has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high.

The front features one window on each floor, with sash windows at both the ground and first floors. To the right, there is a canopy and trellis porch that leads to a panelled and glass door. The west elevation of the south wing has a sash window on the first floor and two sash windows on the ground floor, each with two panes wide and six panes long. The south elevation of the south wing includes a 20th-century porch and door, a sash window with margin glazing and a brick surround, a small gable with a 20th-century window, and a blocked window with a segmental head on the first floor to the left.

The east elevation has a 20th-century brick porch, a plate glass sash window to the left, and a sash window on the first floor to the left, along with a 20th-century window and a dormer. The west elevation features a sash window on both the ground and first floors to the left, with a blocked window on the first floor to the right. The north elevation includes a single-storey pitched roof extension with a 20th-century door and window, and an external stack capped at the eaves. Churchill House is part of an important group at a crossroads.
