Description

The dovecote at Hardwick Farm is a Grade II* listed structure, likely dating from the late medieval period or the 16th century. It features local stone rubble walls and a distinctive corbelled domed roof with an opening at the top. The building has a round plan and is tall, with an altered doorway and one window opening that has iron bars, along with putlog holes. Inside, the dovecote is lined with nesting holes. This structure, along with a few others in the south-west peninsula and South Wales, exemplifies ancient building traditions found in other Atlantic Seaboard regions, such as Brittany and Southern Ireland.
