Description

An unequal pair of early to mid-19th century houses located on Lipson Road, Plymouth. The exterior is characterized by slatehanging, which covers the front, including the parapet, and brick end stacks. The houses follow a double-depth plan, with each having a large room at the front, and the entrance halls are paired centrally.

The three-storey façade presents a nearly symmetrical 2:1:2-window arrangement. Number 9 is wider on the upper floors. The wall breaks back to the right of the doorways, and the central windows above the doorways belong to Number 9 (on the left). The ground floor features round-arched openings, including a pair of doorways with moulded architraves, plain glazed fanlights, and panelled doors with fielded panels. Number 10 retains its original sash windows with glazing bars, those on the ground floor featuring spoked fanlight heads. Number 9 has later horned sashes. The interior has not been inspected but likely contains features of interest.
