Description
The war memorial, located at the north-west corner of the Hoe in Plymouth, was erected around 1920 to honor those from Plymouth who died in World Wars I and II. It features a bronze Classical female figure holding a wreath, which is set on a granite plinth in front of a polished pink granite buttressed pier that also has bronze plaques. The monument is situated at the back of a curved low-walled enclosure made of granite ashlar, which has a wide front entrance with steps flanked by latticed balustrades. This memorial is part of a notable group of memorials on the Hoe.
