Description

This is a planned terrace of houses, alongside a former public house, dating to the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of stucco with stucco detailing, and have slate roofs with deep eaves, except for number 11, which has a hipped roof. Some roofs are grouted. Large brick end stacks are present. The houses follow a double-depth plan, with matched pairs of houses having two front rooms and paired central entrance halls. Number 11 is three storeys high, while the other houses are two storeys, and each house is two windows wide. Most retain original twelve-pane hornless sash windows, although some have later horned sashes. Ground-floor windows in the houses are within recessed segmental-arched panels. Houses 2 to 10 have a first-floor sill string. Original paired pilastered doorways have moulded entablatures, panelled reveals, and panelled doors. The former public house at number 2, located on the corner, has a pilastered shopfront with a moulded entablature and fascia above the splayed corner doorway, with two windows to its left and one window to its right return. Interiors have not been inspected, but are likely to retain original features.
