Description
South Neuk is a town house with a later shop, dating from the late 18th century. It features stucco over what is likely rubble, with rusticated segmental arches and a steep dry slate roof that has a moulded eaves cornice. The building has two hipped dormers with slate-hung cheeks and late 19th or early 20th century six-pane horned sash windows. There is a brick axial stack towards the left and end stacks. The house has a double-depth plan, two storeys plus an attic, and originally had a symmetrical five-window range before the shopfront was added. It likely had original twelve-pane hornless sashes. The central doorway is pilastered and has a moulded entablature with a six-panel door set back within reveals. On the left, there is an early 20th-century shopfront with moulded mullions and transoms, a moulded cornice above a pierced metal fascia, an overlight, and a three-panel door with round-arched top panels. The interior has not been inspected but is expected to be of interest. Additionally, there are wrought-iron railings with turned finials on a plinth to the right of the house doorway.
