Description
The London Inn is a public house dating from the 18th century. It features incised stucco on what is likely rubble, and has a slate roof with a hipped end on the right. There is an outbuilt front lateral stuccoed stack with a moulded cornice and a rendered stack on the left. The building has a single-depth plan with a wing at the rear left and later infill at the angle. It stands three storeys high and has an irregular three-window range, with the left-hand windows being blind. The first floor possibly retains original twelve-pane hornless sashes, while the second floor has later horned sashes, including paired sashes to the left of the lateral stack and to the right-hand return end on the first floor. The ground floor features a moulded entablature of a former shopfront that wraps around the corner and is broken forward surrounding the stack, with shop windows that were partly infilled in the 20th century and fitted with simple casement windows. There is a doorway with a pair of panelled doors located at the ground-floor splay on the corner. The interior has not been inspected but may have interesting features. The building is part of a good group of listed buildings.
