Description

The Manor Office, which houses Atkey Goodman & Company and the National Provincial, is a large house and attached houses that have been converted into offices. It dates from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of painted brick, featuring pilasters on the principal left-hand return front, while the road front is rendered brick with stuccoed rusticated pilasters flanking the house fronts and a mid-floor string. The right-hand return has slate hanging, and the roof is made of dry slate with a dentilled eaves cornice that continues to a central triangular pediment. The attached houses have a mansard roof with three gabled roof dormers.

The overall plan is L-shaped and double-depth. The exterior consists of three storeys with a principal front that has a 1:2:1-bay arrangement, complete with a plinth, string, and flat arches. The road front is two storeys plus an attic, featuring an overall three-window range with a one-window range house on the left and a symmetrical two-window front house on the right. The main front has restored sash windows, some with glazing bars, while the larger of the two attached houses and the dormers have late 19th-century four-pane horned sashes; otherwise, there are 20th-century windows. The larger house facing the road has a 20th-century door with a plain overlight, and the doorway of the other house has been converted into a window.

The interior has not been inspected, but a previous listing description notes a ground-floor room with a panelled dado, panelled doors, and a dentilled cornice, along with an altered staircase featuring plain balusters and column newels.
