Description
The Court House, formerly known as Tudor Cottage, is a semi-detached house with a probable 16th-century core, featuring 19th-century alterations and 20th-century restoration. The building is constructed from coursed rubble, including some large blocks, and has flush rusticated quoins, stone openings, and double Roman tile roofs on the main range, with pantiles on the left-hand advanced wing. It has an irregular L-shaped plan, comprising a two-storey range with two gable-ended wings to the left and a smaller range set at right angles in the angle. The gable ends have 20th-century casement windows, while the set-back range features either fixed-pane or small-pane 19th-century casement windows. There is one fixed-pane window in a chamfered stone surround beneath a flush relieving arch. The right-hand gable end has a Tudor-arched doorway with two orders and a two-leaf studded plank door. The building also has end brick stacks, but the interior is inaccessible.
