Description

These are mid-19th century semi-detached villas, known as Eastern and Western Mansions, located at numbers 3 and 5 Atlantic Road. The main block is constructed of ashlar stone, with a rusticated ground floor. The roof is a mix of tiles and slate. The buildings are three storeys high, with an attic and basement. They feature six windows with plate sash glazing, and a single-window rubble wing to the west, which was later raised to three storeys. Elaborate cast iron balconies and supports cover the entire main facade, including the basement level. Round-headed, stone-gabled dormers are present in the attic. Entrances are located at the rear, on South Road. The buildings contribute to an important group, with Holy Trinity Church acting as a focal point.
