Description
The Lodge, dating probably from around 1825, was originally built as the access point to Brockley Hall. It is constructed with rendered walls and freestone detailing, and has a roof hidden behind a plain entablature and blocking course. The central section features two sash windows with slender glazing bars, set within moulded architraves and with panelled aprons. These are flanked by plain pilasters, and topped by a dentilled cornice. To the right is a panelled door within a simple doorcase featuring pilasters. A plain door is located to the left. Projecting from the left side are two panelled gate piers made of ashlar stone, each surmounted by heraldic beasts supporting arms. Between the piers are wrought iron gates incorporating Greek Revival details such as anthemion and paterae motifs, and spear finials.
