Description

Brockley Chase and Brockley End is a house, now divided into two homes, located on the northwest side of Main Road in Cleeve. It dates from the late 18th century, with an early to mid-19th century rear wing and later alterations. The building is finished in stucco, with some areas rendered, and features a hipped slate roof with two ridge stacks; the rear wing has part of its roof covered in asbestos slates. The structure is L-shaped, standing two storeys tall with four windows, all of which are sash windows with external shutters on the first floor.

The entrance, which was originally central, is now a half-glazed door set in a moulded architrave, located second from the right. To the right of the entrance, there are three bays that feature a canopied verandah supported by wrought iron piers. The building has a cornice, parapet, and coping, along with two dormers, each containing a two-light casement window.

The right side of the building is rendered and has two sash windows on the first floor, one on the ground floor to the left, and a square bay window to the right with plate glass sashes. The lower two-storey rear wing has two sash windows on the first floor and a combination of a sash window and a 20th-century three-pane light on the ground floor. The left side features a canted bay with sash windows and a smaller sash window above, along with a cornice and parapet that return. The rear of the main house has a two-light dormer, while the rear wing has three windows, including a ground floor French window, a 20th-century glazed door with a flat hood, and a two-light casement window. The first floor of the rear wing has an oriel window with plate glass sashes and two sash windows beneath the eaves. The interior has not been inspected.
