Description
Westhanger is a vicarage, now a house, built in the late 18th century. The central bays are finished in stucco, while the outer bays are rendered, featuring limestone dressings. It has a hipped slate roof with ridge and side stacks and stands two storeys tall. The front elevation is divided into three sections, with a recessed centre and a window arrangement of 2:2:1. The two bays on the left have a 16-pane sash window at ground floor right and two sashes at the first floor, while the bay on the right has a sash window on both floors. The central entrance features an 8-panelled door set in a moulded architrave, flanked by 4-pane sash windows, and is sheltered by a Roman Doric arcade supported by four columns. Above the entrance is a balcony with wrought iron railings and four slender columns, along with a similar entablature and cornice under the eaves, possibly made of wood. The first floor has two 20th-century replacement sash windows. The right side of the building has two sashes at the first floor left, a sash and a French window at ground floor, and a full-height semi-circular bow with three sashes on both floors, along with a sash window at ground and first floor right. The interior has not been inspected.
