Description
The Statue of King John, located about 10 metres north of Naish House in Clapton in Gordano, is a Grade II listed structure dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features a square ashlar base with a moulded cornice. The statue depicts a standing figure of King John, who holds a falcon in his left hand and a scroll in his right, with the Magna Carta at his feet. This statue is part of the former extensive service and garden buildings of Naish House, which was built in a Gothic style but has since been burnt and demolished. The statue is now situated in the grounds of a mid-20th century Naish House.
