Description

Brook Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with 19th-century windows and some later alterations. It is built of white-washed rubble and features a pantiled roof with brick and stone gable stacks, as well as a ridge stack to the right of the passage. The roof includes some double Roman and triple roll tiles at the rear. The building has a T-plan shape created by a rear wing and a through passage.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has four windows, all of which are 2-light casements of varied sizes, except for the ground floor window on the left, which has four lights. The second bay from the left has a gabled porch with a square-headed door opening that has an ovolo-moulded and stopped frame, cut back for the passage of barrels. The door itself is studded and features raised moulded fillets and a barred peephole. To the left of the main structure is a 1.5-storey stable with a stable door and a loading door located under the eaves.

The right return of the farmhouse showcases a stepped and tapered wide external stack and a 4-pane light with a timber lintel at the first floor on the right. At the rear, there is a door to the left with a 2-light casement above it, and to the right, there is a single-storey lean-to byre attached, which has a door opening and a triple roll tiled roof. Additionally, there is a single-storey rear wing that features a 3-light casement to the left and a lean-to to the right with a 4-pane light, a brick gable stack, and a double Roman tiled roof.

Inside, the farmhouse has heavy chamfered and stopped beams on each side of the passage. There is a round-headed door to the right with a chamfered frame, also cut back for barrels, and a door with strap hinges. A winder stair is located at the rear of the room to the right, although the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
