Description
The Perceval Monument is a chest tomb located about 3 metres south of the porch of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Weston-in-Gordano. It is listed as a Grade II structure. The monument features a bronze plate on the west side, which identifies it as the tomb of Richard Perceval, a commander in the crusades who fought under King Richard and died in 1202. The tomb is made of limestone and has a plain plinth and a flat top with a chamfered edge. On the top, there are two long crosses carved, and at the east end, there is a shield of arms set in a cusped panel. Additionally, there is a plate on the north side with a Latin inscription that reads, "orate pro anima ...".
