373/0/10003 THE TRIANGLE 26-SEP-03 Nos. 52 and 53 including workshop adjoining east

II Pair of cottages and adjoining workshop. Circa mid C19. Limestone rubble. Welsh slate roof with gabled ends. Brick axial and gable-end stacks. PLAN: Pair of 2-room plan cottages with outshuts at the rear and an integral workshop on the right [east]; it is reputedly a wheelwright's workshop and has been extended at the right [east] end. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical south front; 3:2 bay fronts to cottages with horizontally sliding sashes on the first floor with glazing bars and casements on ground floor, No.53 on left C20 with plate glass; all No.52's windows recently replaced with facsimiles; each cottage has central doorway with plank door and wooden gabled porch. Workshop on right has cart entrance with plank double doors; extended on right in weatherboarded timber-frame. Rear has outshuts with lean-to slate roofs. INTERIOR: Large kitchen fireplaces with timber bressumers and brick jambs with ovens removed; limestone flag floor in No.52's kitchen; 2-pank doors with wrought-iron strap-hinges; lapped and pegged collar-truss roof. A largely intact example of a pair of mid C19 vernacular cottages with an integral workshop.
