Description
Elizabeth Cottage is a cottage with origins dating back to the 17th century. The walls are constructed from a mix of stone, brick, and plaster, topped with a thatched roof and featuring a brick chimney stack. The cottage is one storey with an attic and was originally designed with a simple two-room layout. There is a single-storey brick extension on the east side, which has a tiled roof.
The elevation facing the road includes one horizontally sliding sash window and one casement window on the ground floor, both of which have glazing bars and shutters. The west wall, made of 17th-century brick, displays two terra cotta plaques depicting Queen Anne Boleyn and her emblem, a falcon. The rear wall features a ledged door set within a thatched porch. On the ground floor, there is another horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars. The attic includes a half-dormer with horizontally sliding sashes that also have glazing bars.
Inside, the main ground floor room boasts a large open fireplace with a timber lintel, which has been restored. The cottage retains remnants of a jointed cruck roof.
